Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the National Narcotics Helpline called “MANAS” (Madak Padarth Nisedh Asuchna Kendra) in July 2024.
The helpline operates through the toll-free number 1933. It also includes a web portal, mobile app, and integration with the UMANG app.
This setup allows citizens to anonymously share information about drug trafficking and seek advice on de-addiction and rehabilitation at any time.
MANAS aims to:
- Provide an easy-to-use platform for reporting drug-related crimes like trafficking, illegal sale, purchase, storage, manufacturing, and cultivation of narcotic drugs.
- Strengthen coordination among various anti-narcotics agencies across the country.
- Improve public awareness and involvement in fighting drug abuse.
- Support a complete approach that combines strong action against drug supply chains, strategic demand reduction, and human-focused harm reduction.
The launch was part of a broader government commitment to actively combat drug abuse and aims for a drug-free India by 2047 , visit here
The helpline also connects citizens to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and supports the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD), which organizes national anti-narcotics enforcement efforts….For Govt Initiative link yourself here www.eminentnews.com
