Madhya Pradesh is known as the ” Tiger state of India ” because it has highest number of tigers in the country , on 9th march 2025 ,the central govt declared Madhav national park as 58th Tiger reserve of country with aim to conservation of tiger reserve and boost state eco tourism ..
Madhya Pradesh has a total of 12 national parks . Here is a list of them:
- Kanha National Park: Known for its conservation efforts and tiger population, located in the Mandla and Balaghat districts . Established in 1955 .
- Bandhavgarh National Park: Located in the Umaria district and known for its high density of Royal Bengal tigers . Established in 1968 .
- Pench National Park: Inspired Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book,” located in Seoni and Chhindwara districts . Established in 1975 .
- Satpura National Park: Located in the Narmadapuram district, known for its biodiversity and varied topography . Established in 1981 .
- Panna National Park: Situated in the Panna and Chhatarpur districts, known for its tiger conservation . Established in 1981 .
- Van Vihar National Park: Located in Bhopal, it serves as a sanctuary and rescue centre for wild animals . Established in 1979 .
- Madhav National Park: Located near Shivpuri, features lakes and historical monuments . Established in 1959 .
- Sanjay-Dubri National Park: Located in the Sidhi district, known for its biodiversity . Established in 1981 .
- Kuno National Park: Located in the Sheopur district, recently known for the cheetah relocation program . Established in 2018 .
- Ghughwa Fossil National Park: The smallest national park in Madhya Pradesh, known for plant fossils . Established in 1983 .
- Dino Adventure Park: Located in Dhar, it offers an exploration of the world of dinosaurs . Established in 2011 .
- Omkareshwar National Park: Located in Khandwa district . Established in 2004 .
