The Mela Patt festival in J&K is the annual three-day Mela Patt, commenced at the ancient Khakhal Mohalla in Doda district in Jammu & Kasmir . It occurs on Nag Panchami and represents the Nag culture of the area. This festival started in the 16th century to honor the historic meeting between Mughal Emperor Akbar and Raja Nagpal, the Bhaderwah ruler known for his spiritual connection to the serpent god Nag Raj Vasuki. The name of the festival comes from “Patt Vastra” which means silken clothes
