Operation Shiv Shakti is a joint counter-terror operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police in July 2025, primarily aimed at preventing cross-border terrorism by intercepting and neutralizing armed infiltrators attempting to enter Indian territory via the Line of Control (LoC), especially in the Poonch district’s Degwar sector.
Operation Shiv Shakti :
- The operation followed robust intelligence inputs about planned infiltration from Pakistan-occupied territory, with the aim of stopping armed militants before they could penetrate deeper into India.
- During this operation, two heavily armed terrorists were killed as they attempted to infiltrate LoC at night. Substantial arms, grenades, wireless sets, and supplies were recovered, indicating plans for a major terrorist attack.
- The operation was conducted with a high emphasis on precision, civilian safety, and swift response, using joint resources and coordination between the Indian Army and local police.
- The operation’s name, “Shiv Shakti,” draws inspiration from the Hindu deity Shiva, representing the destruction of evil, and was partly chosen because it was launched during the monsoon season (Sawan), traditionally associated with Lord Shiva.
- It followed Operation Mahadev, in which three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were eliminated. In total, in the preceding 100 days, security forces eliminated 12 high-profile terrorists, including six Pakistani nationals.
- Post-operation, security forces secured and searched the area to ensure no additional threats remained.
- The operation is part of a broader, intensified anti-terror strategy in Jammu & Kashmir in mid-2025, following a spike in infiltration and attacks.
Operation Shiv Shakti is notable both for its operational success and for the strong message it sends against attempts to violate Indian sovereignty on the western border..for National news click www.eminentnews.com
