The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Resham Sakhi Yojana to economically empower rural women .
Detailed overview of the scheme:
- Objective: To empower rural women economically through sericulture, enabling them to earn income from home .
- Implementation: The scheme is a joint effort between the State Rural Livelihood Mission and the Silk Department .
- Training: Rural women will receive training in silkworm rearing to produce mulberry and tussar silk . Mulberry silk training will be given in Mysore, Karnataka, and tussar silk training in Ranchi, Jharkhand . Specialized training programs and field visits will be organized for mission staff and ‘Resham Sakhis’ .
- Target: The scheme aims to connect 50,000 women in the next 5 years. In its first phase, 7,500 women from 15 districts will be connected by 2025-26 .
