Sanjay Singhal, a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). He is currently serving as Special Director General in the Border Security Force (BSF).
Sanjay Singhal will formally take charge as DG, SSB from September 1, 2025, succeeding Amrit Mohan Prasad, who retires on August 31, 2025. His tenure as DG will continue until his superannuation on December 31, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet following a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs..
