The Coconut Development Board (CDB)

The Coconut Development Board (CDB) celebrated World Coconut Day 2025 in Kerala by launching updated support programs for coconut farmers. They also presented the Export Excellence Awards to the top coconut exporters in India.

The theme for 2025 was “Uncovering Coconut’s Power, Inspiring Global Action ” which focused on innovation and sustainability in the coconut industry.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan opened the event emphasizing India’s position as a top global coconut producer. CDB also released new publications and guidelines on updated schemes to inform stakeholders about the benefits and processes

CDB announced significant increases in financial aid:

  1. Sapling subsidy raised from ₹4 to ₹45 per sapling aiming to distribute 2.5 lakh high-quality saplings in 2025.
  2. Replanting aid increased from ₹40 to ₹350 per tree , encouraging the renewal of old and disease-prone plantations.
  3. The Coconut Technology Mission saw a sixfold rise in support, improving access to post-harvest processing units, value addition infrastructure and new technologies.

Export Excellence Awards

During the event in Angamaly, Kerala, CDB honored outstanding exporters in several categorie

  1. Best Coconut Shell-Based Product Exporter: United Carbon Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (Gold), Nova Carbons India Pvt. Ltd. (Silver), Jacobi Carbons India Pvt. Ltd. (Bronze).
  2. Best Coconut Kernel-Based Product Exporter: Marico Ltd. (Gold), Mezhukkattil Mills (Silver), Fair Exports India Pvt. Ltd. (Bronze).
  3. Special awards included Best Coconut Water Exporter (Sakthi Coco Products), Best Women Exporter (Carbure Activated Carbon Pvt. Ltd.) and Best Farmer Producer Organization Exporter (Global Coconut Farmers Producer Company Ltd )

Coconut Development Board (CDB) 

  • It is a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, established on 12th January 1981. 
  • Its mandate is the integrated development of coconut cultivation and industry in India, with a focus on increasing productivity and product diversification.
  • It also works on developing post-harvest processing and marketing technologies, promoting product diversification and by-product utilisation, adding value to coconut based products, sharing information and building capacity in the coconut sector.

As one of the largest coconut-producing states Kerala served as the center for the national celebration.
